Stourbridge school achieves top Ofsted rating for third consecutive inspection
Old Swinford Hospital’s boarding provision has been judged ‘Outstanding’ in every category for the third consecutive time. Ofsted inspected the school in January and has now published its report.
Over three days, the inspectors met pupils and members of staff, and they spoke with parents and carers. They stated that OSH boarders ‘are inspired to achieve and aim high’ and that a ‘culture of learning is firmly embedded and underpinned by innovative, research informed practice.’ This is particularly pertinent as the 2025/26 academic year is history-making at OSH as it’s the first year we are a fully co-educational school with girls in school and in boarding from Year 7 through to Year 13.

Headmaster Paul Kilbride, who steps down as Headmaster after 12 years in the summer, commented: "Another team effort and it’s nice to fly the flag for England’s state boarding schools. The inspectors were greatly impressed by our pupils, and by our hard-working and deeply committed colleagues.
"Above all else, they were struck by the strong sense of a positive and upbeat community where these young people are known and understood. It’s a big ‘well done’ to everybody involved."
