£5,000 boost for Sandwell families from Morrisons Foundation

New Beginnings Community, a charity that provides essential items and support to families in hardship in Sandwell, were delighted to receive a donation of £5,000 from the Morrisons Foundation.

Thanks to the support of the charitable arm of the supermarket, New Beginnings have been able to support families with vulnerable newborns with all essential items for the first six weeks of life. The bundles include a Moses basket, safe sleep mattress, clothing, nappies, toiletries, books, and toys.

Carrie Pearson, CEO of New Beginnings Community said: “This grant will help us ensure that every baby receives a safe, high-quality Baby Bundle at a time when families need support most.

New Beginnings Community have been providing support to families in the local area for more than 10 years. During that time the charity has become the ‘go-to’ spot for families with little ones under five.

The charity’s team is made up of staff and volunteers and partners with local agencies to make sure families get the support they need. In 2023 they were very proud to be recognised for their charitable work by receiving the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour a voluntary organisation can receive.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. In the past 11 years the Foundation has donated over £46 million, supporting hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
