New cookery school marks expansion of Blend Culinary Foundation
The food and community sector is set to celebrate a major milestone as Blend Family, creators of the much-loved Blend Culinary Foundation (BCF) at Cambridge Street Collective, brings their mission to the Midlands with the opening of Alfred Works in Digbeth, following their success in Sheffield.
The new Blend Culinary Foundation kitchen opened its doors on March 11 with an open kitchen day, where guests explored the new cookery school, met the team, and took part in preparing meals for Birmingham organisations and charities supporting local organisations experiencing food poverty.
This expansion builds on the impact of the original kitchen located in Cambridge Street Collective, which has become a hub for community cooking, food education, and corporate volunteering. The move to Birmingham marks the next step in Blend Culinary Foundation’s mission to tackle food poverty and strengthen communities through shared food experiences.

Just like in Sheffield, the new Birmingham kitchen will host corporate pledge days, allowing visitors to work together while preparing meals for local charities throughout the year. They will also host corporate impact days, allowing businesses to blend team building with meaningful social impact, a model that has proven hugely successful.

Throughout March, to celebrate the launch of Blend Culinary Foundation, all of their events in Alfred Works will be 15% off. Popular sessions include the Cooking & Cocktails Masterclass and the Global Flavours series, with full details on the Blend Culinary Foundation website.
Blend Culinary Foundation’s expansion means even more meals donated, more communities supported, and more opportunities for people to connect through food.
Lauren, Head of BCF, said: “It’s amazing to watch the growth of BCF, and it will be incredible to know we are able to help so many more local charities. Sheffield has been the foundation of everything we’ve built, and now we’re excited to bring that same energy and impact to Alfred Works!”
At its core, Blend Family is committed to not only creating vibrant, diverse food halls but also to addressing food poverty, improving food education, and uniting communities. Every penny raised through the cookery school is reinvested to support this mission.
