Dressed to the nines – Wolverhampton care home holds fashion show
A care home in Wolverhampton has rolled out the red carpet and hosted its very own fashion show.
Residents at Care UK’s Foxland Grange, on Wergs Road in Tettenhall, walked the runway and strutted their stuff in a special event curated by fellow resident and former shop owner Valerie Parker.
The show gave residents the chance to express their love for fashion. Valerie, who formerly owned popular dress and trinket shop Carousel, spent years styling outfits for customers and has loved all things fashion ever since.
During the catwalk, residents and team members modelled their glamourous outfits, which paid tribute to their cultural background.
Valerie, aged 88, said: “It has been so lovely to see all the outfits: some simple and elegant, some very sparkly and others just magnificent.
“It was a pleasure watching the fashion show unfold.”

In the lead-up to the event, residents were guided by Valerie, who offered styling advice and shared her top tips for selecting their very best attire.
Katy Anderson, Home Manager at Foxland Grange, said: “We had a fantastic time hosting our very own ‘Foxland Fashion Show’.
“We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to encourage residents to reminisce about their careers and interests close to them. Valerie is most definitely a fashion icon here at Foxland Grange – she’s often sharing her style tips and stories from her days running Carousel. This fashion show was a great way for her to step back into the fabulous world of fashion while having fun with fellow residents.
“Everyone had such a wonderful day strutting their stuff and talking about iconic fashion looks through the years. We’re already looking forward to our next event!”
Foxland Grange provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care, in a luxury environment.
