Across the championships, Max secured nine gold medals in 1500m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Backstroke & 50m Backstroke. Max’s success was further recognised with nine Junior County Champion (15 years and under) Titles, awarded in each of his gold‑medal events — a testament to his dominance in the junior category.

Behind these achievements lies a demanding training schedule. Max trains five times a week with Sandwell Aquatics Club, demonstrating a commitment to the sport well beyond his years. Alongside swimming, he also plays rugby twice a week for Stourbridge Rugby Club. This busy routine helps build his overall fitness, strength and resilience, with the physical demands of rugby complementing his performance in the pool.

Max’s younger brother, Zach Steele, aged 11, is proudly following in his big brother’s footsteps. Competing at the same championships, Zach claimed an impressive gold medal in the 200m Butterfly and a silver medal in the 100m Butterfly. His strong performances mark him as another promising young swimmer, adding to the Steele family’s growing reputation in the local sporting community.

Parent’s praised both boys for their hard work, attitude and dedication, noting that their achievements reflect countless hours of training and enthusiasm for the sport.

With such strong performances from both Max and Zach, the Steele brothers are certainly names to watch as they continue to develop in competitive swimming!
