The café has been created to recognise the vital role that carers play in the community and to provide a relaxed environment where both carers and those they support can spend time together, socialise and access meaningful activities.

At the café, carers will have the opportunity to meet with others in similar situations, build friendships and share experiences over light refreshments. Meanwhile, the people they care for can take part in a variety of engaging activities designed to be enjoyable and stimulating, should they wish to participate.

Organisers say the aim is to create a friendly, informal setting where everyone feels supported and included. A spokesperson said: “The café has been created because we understand how important it is for carers to have time to connect with others and for people living with dementia to enjoy social interaction and activities in a safe, welcoming environment. We hope it will become a valued part of the local community."

The launch will take place on Wednesday, March 25 between 2pm and 4pm at Iverley View Care Home, Stourbridge, and the Dementia Carers Café will continue to run on the last Wednesday of every month from 2-4pm. The café operates as a drop-in session, and everyone is welcome.

Visitors can expect a warm atmosphere, a range of activities, and refreshments for all who attend.
