Britannia Skate Park reopens in Rowley Regis following major upgrade

Sandwell Council has officially opened the newly upgraded Britannia Skate Park in Rowley Regis, following redevelopment works carried out by Maverick Skateparks. The reopening took place on Saturday (March 8), after the original launch date in February was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

The new facility has been designed to provide a modern concrete skate park for the local community, replacing the previous metal ramp setup. The upgrade aims to create a more durable, safer and higher-quality space for skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX riders of all abilities.

Local riders began arriving from late morning, with the park quickly filling as the day went on. Spectators gathered to watch experienced riders test the new layout, with a variety of tricks performed across the ramps, rails and ledges throughout the event.

Richard Skidmore from SkateHut said: “This addition to Britannia Park really brings life and excitement to the area. We rarely see skate parks of this quality, so it’s something very unique. There’s no doubt it will become a hub for children and teenagers to socialise, adding a positive point of interest for the community of Rowley Regis.”

Feedback from riders on the day was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on the improvement provided by the new concrete design. The central box feature proved particularly popular, allowing riders to gain enough height for more advanced tricks, while the rails and curbs provided additional options for technical riding.

The redevelopment of Britannia Skate Park is expected to encourage increased use of the facility and provide a long-term space for young people and local riders to practise and develop their skills. The new layout also leaves room for potential future expansion, with the possibility of additional features being added at a later date.
