Step into a world of fairy tales as Kidderminster society stages Into the Woods
Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society (KODS) is delighted to announce its upcoming production of Into the Woods, running at The Rose Theatre, Kidderminster from March 16 to 21.
This magical and much-loved musical promises an enchanting theatrical experience for audiences of all ages. Bringing together classic fairy tale characters in an imaginative and moving story, Into the Woods explores wishes, consequences, family, and community, all set to a rich and unforgettable score by Stephen Sondheim.
Director, Emily Hamer, said: “Every member of the team was worked incredibly hard and I’m excited to see this wacky, well-written show come to life on stage and give the audience the opportunity to watch a new take on traditional fairy tales”.

This production holds particular significance for the society as it forms part of its 110th anniversary celebrations. For more than a century, KODS has been at the heart of Kidderminster’s cultural life, providing high-quality musical and dramatic productions while nurturing local talent and fostering a strong sense of community.
The show also marks the end of an era. Into the Woods will be the final production under the Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society name before the group merges with Carpet Trades Musical Theatre Company to form the newly established Kidderminster Musical Theatre Company. This exciting new chapter will see two long-standing local organisations come together to continue delivering outstanding musical theatre for the town and surrounding areas.

Chairman, Gareth Coffin, adds: “It’s been 110 years since KODS put on their first production, and we’ve been bringing magic to the stage ever since. Now for what will sadly be our last major production before we become KMTC which is a very exciting next chapter for theatre in the area”.
Audiences can expect a spectacular production filled with stunning costumes and powerful performances from a talented local cast and creative team. As KODS takes its final bow under its historic name, this promises to be a heartfelt and memorable week of theatre.
Performances run from March 16 to 21, including a Saturday matinee, at The Rose Theatre, Kidderminster. Tickets are available from rosetheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01562 743745.
