Earning this award means the school has met rigorous standards across key areas, including skilled staff training, inclusive policies, and a curriculum that reflects the diverse world we live in. Most importantly, it means Colton Hills is proactively committed to:

  • Safety: Zero tolerance for bullying or exclusionary language.

  • Visibility: Ensuring LGBT+ history and lives are naturally part of their learning.

  • Support: Providing a space where every student feels confident in their identity.

Mrs Claire Buckle, the teacher instrumental in driving this initiative added: “At Colton Hills, we believe that when students feel safe and supported, they flourish academically and socially. This award is a win for our entire community, proving that kindness and inclusion are at the very heart of everything we do. We are so proud of our staff and students for their commitment to creating an LGBT+ inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

From updating our curriculum to training our team, we’ve been on a mission to make "belonging" our default setting. A huge thank you to our incredible dedicated staff for leading the way.”
