Family and friends join Cannock Soroptimists for 71st Charter celebration
Cannock & District Soroptimists commemorated their 71st Charter by hosting a dinner at Brocton Golf Club and they invited family and friends to join in their celebrations. The evening was expertly organised by Soroptimist Jill Gooch and her team and Mistress of Ceremonies Lynne Tuckley skilfully made sure that everything ran like clockwork.
Lead Team President Carole Holdcroft began the evening with her theme for the year 'Each and every one of us can make a difference, but together we can make change. We think we are just a drop in the ocean, but together we are the ocean.' She welcomed their guests who included members of Cannock & District Ladies Probus, Men’s Probus, Tangent, Cannock WI, Rotary Club of Cannock and many sister Soroptimists from local clubs plus three special guests from their Friendship Link Club, SI Port Talbot who lit friendship candles to celebrate the bond between the two clubs.

Following a delicious meal, Staffordshire County Councillor and great friend of the club Phil Hewitt proposed a toast to Soroptimist International where he praised the work of the organisation and Region President Jennifer McLelland responded by highlighting some of the work SI Cannock do to educate, empower and enable women and girls locally, nationally and internationally. In response to a toast to the guests by President Carole, Jan Gray, President of SI Bilston thanked the club for their hospitality.

With the formalities over, guests were entertained by the superb saxophonist and singer Simon Garcia who encouraged everyone to join in the party! The dance floor was full and those who weren’t dancing were catching up with old friends and making new ones.
At the end of the night, Cannock Soroptimist Jill Mason thanked Simon for his contribution to making the evening such a success and President Carole brought the night to a close by thanking everyone for their attendance whilst members of SI Cannock presented floral gifts to visiting Presidents, other guests and club members who had been instrumental in organising the event.
