Character drawing workshop at Stourbridge Library
Writer and illustrator Poppy T Perry will be leading a free character workshop on Saturday, March 7 at Stourbridge Library from 2-3.30pm.
Author of Dead Real which was published by Fox and Ink last summer, Poppy will talk about how to develop character both verbally and visually. Those attending will then have an opportunity to draw their own characters before watching how to fold a mini book and planning a mini book layout of their own.

“The aim of the workshop is to explore character design through words and pictures,” said Poppy, who works as a freelance consulting artist and an art technician at a sixth form college. “Each attendee will learn the starting points and key skills so they can take them home and develop them further.”
Dead Real is described as an illustrated coming-of-age rom com with zombies and Poppy will be signing copies of her young adult book at the session.

“The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators included her as one of their Undiscovered Voices in 2022 and her workshop promises to be excellent for anyone aged 8 years and over who’d like to learn more about bringing a character to life in illustration,” said librarian Jodi Wray.
“Entry is free, but booking is recommended to guarantee a space.”
