Local MP celebrates Moreton’s community spirit and ambition
Moreton School was delighted to welcome local MP Sureena Brackenridge for a visit that celebrated student leadership, ambition and the school’s strong sense of community.
Local MP Sureena Brackenridge may be used to the heat of Parliament, but at Moreton she faced a different kind of questioning, from the sharp minds of the Moreton School Student Council.
Visiting the Wolverhampton school to see its ongoing journey of renewal, Mrs Brackenridge, a former teacher herself, was "blown away" by the confidence and articulacy of the students.

Far from a standard meet-and-greet, the Student Council treated the visit like their own version of Prime Minister’s Questions. In a session described as "thoughtful and well-researched," students grilled their MP on the issues that matter to their generation: social media legislation, local job opportunities, and how to encourage more girls into STEM careers.
Headteacher Mr Williams said the visit was a proud moment for the school.
"We were delighted to welcome Sureena to Moreton," he said. "As a former teacher, she understands education better than most in Parliament. She was absolutely blown away by our amazing students, who put her through her paces with real confidence."

While the questioning was robust, the atmosphere was anything but chaotic. Mrs Brackenridge described the school environment as "an oasis of calm," praising the staff for creating a space where students feel safe to challenge, question, and grow.
"It was a pleasure to show her around," Mr Williams added. "It gave us a chance to demonstrate how our staff and students live out our ‘Striving for MORE’ values every single day."
The visit highlighted Moreton’s commitment to high expectations, proving that they aren't just building strong students academically, but shaping the articulate, responsible citizens of the future.
