The Rotary Club of Cannock held a special meeting to present donations to local charities from funds raised at their Christmas collections.
The club made donations totalling £6,300 to 17 local charities and good causes. Club President Alan Matkin thanked the service clubs who helped with their Christmas collections, Cannock Soroptimists, Cannock Lions and the club’s corporate member Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends. President Alan also told the meeting that club made Santa visits to local care homes to hand out presents and to bring a little bit of Christmas cheer. The Club also took part in local lantern parades and street collections in the Coven area.
Alan outlined that Cannock club was only too aware that there were many people in our local areas in need of support so when reviewing the donation proposals, they looked to ensure they spread funds raised across a wide spectrum of good causes. Alan thanked Tesco Heath Hayes and Hednesford, Asda and Dobbies Garden Centre for allowing the club to raise funds at their premises. He also thanked the people from the local community for giving their hard-earned cash to the campaign and said that Rotary had fulfilled their promise that every penny raised would go to support charities in the local area.
