Lola – who had a glittering 100-race career at Monmore Green as Droopys Showgirl – has settled in seamlessly with Kevin and Victoria Carter in Staffordshire, taking in the sights of Lichfield on her many adventures.

The couple are close friends of Kieron Dawson, head of the Teachers’ Pet Syndicate which owned Lola during her racing days where she won 20 times for trainer Chris Fereday.

Her last race at Monmore on November 29 came with a special presentation having reached a century of runs, and then shortly after Christmas, she was cuddling up next to her ‘100 Up Club’ jacket in a comfy bed.

“She’s a Lichfield socialite now and it’s absolutely brilliant to see,” said Mr Dawson.

“I keep in regular contact with Kevin and feed back to the rest of the syndicate, and we’re delighted to say she’s been the perfect pet for them – friendly with other dogs, cat friendly and loving all the fuss.

“As a syndicate, we take pride in trying to find loving homes for our dogs, and Lola’s living the life of Riley.

“Kevin and Victoria previously had another bitch I part-owned with three other people, Droopys Jubilee, but sadly lost her to cancer last year.

“They’d got in touch after Lola had run her final race and wanted to have her to mark 20 years of being together, and she’s doing very well.

“They both work from home, so Lola’s getting plenty of attention and been enjoying her trips to the pub as well!

“Her 100 Up Club jacket is in her bed, so there’s that acknowledgment of her racing career and achievements, while now making sure she has the best life possible as a pet.

“A few of our syndicate members are in the Lichfield area so are due to go and see her soon – we really are delighted that Lola has found the right home.”
