Participants will brave the elements for a challenging 12-hour stint at the ‘Sleep Out’ event taking place on Friday, April 10 at Cannock College located opposite the bus station.

Chris Young, Chair of the Organising Group said: “Cannock and Stafford Rotary Clubs are delighted to announce the return of this event, which builds on two very successful events held in 2022 and 2024.These two events raised over £20,000 which has enabled us to make 41 grants that have been a lifeline for people and helped them move closer to independent living and into accommodation they can call home”.

The aim of the Sleep Out is to support organisations like the Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends, who provide supported housing for people with enduring mental illness. One of the barriers their clients have is being able to afford both a deposit and purchase furniture and electrical items to enable them to successfully move out of supported housing and into a home of their own. The money raised from the “Sleep Out” helps to remove that barrier enabling people to move into a home of their own. Mental illness affects people from all walks of life, and the sponsored ‘Sleep Out’ highlights the issues faced by homeless people.
