Rebuild the rhythm: A celebration of creativity at Wolgarston High School Dance Festival 2026
On Thursday, February 5, the lights dimmed and an eclectic cacophony of music filled the school’s hall as Wolgarston High School held its annual dance festival.
The event organised by Mrs Sally Stanton (Head of PE) and Mrs Hannah Boden (Teacher of PE & Dance) allowed the school’s students alongside students from Brewood Middle Academy and Penkridge Middle School take part to proudly showcase their talents and passion for dance.
“At Wolgarston we believe that dance festivals are a great opportunity to see the talent present in our pyramid of schools,” said Mrs Stanton, “All of the performances in this year’s festival were created in their school lessons and after school clubs, showing each and every participants dedication to the art of dance. These festivals give the pupils across our schools the opportunity to perform, gain stage experience, and share their work with a wider audience. These events allow children from across the pyramid to perform, support one another, and experience being part of a larger school community."

This year's dance festival was titled Rebuild the Rhythm, in which 15 amazing performances took place with over 90 participants involved. The audience was entertained with performances ranging from the musical Chicago (performed by Wolgarston High BTEC Dance students) to KPOP Demon Hunter.
Mr Andrew Greenwood (Assistant Headteacher), stepped into the spotlight to host the evening’s festival. "As always it is an honour and a privilege as a school to host these events," said Mr Greenwood, "Every performance was outstanding, and the students involved have brought pride to their schools, families and local communities."

“This year’s event was an amazing platform for our BTEC Dance students to showcase their technical skills and artistic growth,” said Mrs Boden, “Our students performed pieces that required not only physical precision but also the ability to demonstrate deep emotional storytelling. All of our students should be proud of their performances.”
“We are already looking forward to hosting next year’s festival,” said Mrs Stanton, “I wonder what our students will have planned for the event.”
