The New Goal Posts for Kent Road Playground campaign, led by Cllr Andrew Tromans on behalf of the Wollaston Farm Tenants and Residents Association (TRA), has successfully reached its £900 fundraising goal on Crowdfunder. The campaign aimed to install new goal posts at Kent Road Playground in Wollaston following recent improvements to the play area.

The playground, which already benefits from newly installed equipment thanks to years of campaigning by the TRA, attracted strong community support, with 17 supporters contributing to the appeal.

Cllr Tromans said: “On behalf of the families living on Wollaston Farm Estate and the TRA, I would like to extend my deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the appeal. Whether it was £1 or £100, your generosity at a time when so many are feeling the pinch is appreciated.

“We have smashed our fundraising target, so any further donations will be given to the TRA to make other improvements to Kent Road Playground. It is moments like this that show the power of community and kindness over all that would seek to divide us.”

Local firms PreMetro Operations and JT Foams backed the crowdfunder alongside businessman and philanthropist David Sheppard.

With funding secured, plans are underway to place the new goal posts in a location agreed with local residents and approved by Dudley Council.

A fundraising concert, organised by Billy Spakemon of Busking For Charity, is also planned at The Britannia Inn on Sunday, February 15.

Black Country Radio, Black Country Extra and GigCaritas are supporting the charity gig by providing sound equipment and sourcing local artists to perform at the event.

Installation of the goal posts is expected to begin once final arrangements have been confirmed with local residents.
