This is the highest standard awarded by the agency and is made up of how food is handled, stored and prepared; the cleanliness of the facilities, good paperwork and how the food safety is managed. The scheme is intended to help individuals to make an informed choice about where to eat our or purchase food.

Age Concern Stourbridge and Halesowen’s café is based at St John’s, by the fire station. It is conveniently next to the Stourbridge Town railway and bus station, making it easy to drop in for something to eat or drink when visiting the town using public transport.

The café, which is set up to raise money to help fund this invaluable charity, provides affordable, nutritional food which is available to anyone - no matter of age, or whether they use the charity’s facilities or services.

David Harbach, chair of trustees commented: “This five star rating shows the very high standards we achieve within our café - put simply it gives everyone who eats or drinks with us the confidence that it will be a positive experience. It clearly shows that we have met all necessary criteria and is a credit to those staff and volunteers who manage and run our lovely café.

“If you are visiting Stourbridge Town and haven’t already done so, why not give us a try to enjoy affordable home cooked style food? You could also see what else we have on offer - including activities, advice services and opportunities to make new friends.”

The café is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm.
