Colleagues at Specsavers sister stores in Bearwood and West Bromwich, Majid Jawaid, Abrar Zaman, Anisha Patel, Tracey Dixon and Ansar Malik have a combined total of more than 80 years’ experience between them.

Store director, Majid, started his career at Specsavers as an optical assistant in 2003 while studying optometry at Bradford University. After completing his pre-registration qualification in 2005, he became director at the Bearwood store before taking on the same role in West Bromwich in 2010.

"It feels like only yesterday that I started my career with Specsavers," says Majid. "After all these years I’m still loving every day, especially working with two wonderful teams and helping our customers improve their vision and look after their eyes."

After completing his pre-registration qualification at Specsavers Bishop Auckland in 2009, Abrar joined the teams at the sister stores in 2011. In 2017, he became a director alongside Majid, and the pair are committed to the long-term future of the New Square Shopping Centre and Bearwood Road stores.

"Marking 16 years with Specsavers is a significant milestone for me," comments Abrar. "I’ve gained so much knowledge and expertise along the way and have worked with some truly fantastic people. As co-director with Majid, it’s exciting to now be able to help our team with their career progression. Here’s to many more successful years to come."

Joining Majid and Abrar in the celebrations are three other valued, long serving team members. Anisha is marking a significant 20-year milestone. Having started her journey as an optical assistant in 2006, before qualifying as an optometrist in 2009, she is now a senior optometrist at the West Bromwich store. Customer service manager, Tracey, also marks 15 years at the sister stores, while general manager, Ansar, brings nine years of experience to the team.

"I’m thrilled to mark this incredible combined 80-year milestone with my colleagues," shares Majid. "It’s the loyalty, expertise, and passion of people like Anisha, Tracey and Ansar that ensures we can continue to provide the very best care for our local communities in West Bromwich and Bearwood."
