Wulfrunian Suzi Perry is headline speaker at Chamber’s International Women’s Day event
Proud Wulfrunian Suzi Perry has been confirmed as guest speaker at the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD).
The Chamber is hosting a Women in Leadership event for IWD at The Mount Hotel, highlighting some of the incredible contributions made by women from across the region.
Women in Leadership steering group chairman Lucy Rook will open the event, which includes a two-course lunch, by reflecting on this year’s theme Give to Gain, and providing an update on the Chamber’s mentoring scheme for young women, Guiding Stars. After lunch, Suzi Perry will give a talk followed by a Q&A.
Broadcast journalist Suzi, best known for her love of motorbikes and as the face of MotoGP coverage, is Black Country born and bred. She’s an avid Wolverhampton Wanderers fan and in 2024 became an ambassador for the Wolves Foundation, the club’s official charity which aims to educate and inspire local people and communities. She has both an Honorary Fellowship and an Honorary Doctor of Engineering from Wolverhampton University.
Her TV credits include being the first permanent female anchor for the BBC’s Formula One coverage, hosting Channel 5’s popular Gadget Show and reporting on live events such as Royal Ascot, Trooping the Colour and the Boat Race.
Suzi said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be invited to speak at the Black Country Women in Leadership’s International Women’s Day event – especially as it’s in my hometown.

“Meeting and talking with these strong, successful and brilliant Black Country women who represent the very best of commerce and industry in the region will be a real privilege.
“Throughout my career I’ve found that when we support and mentor each other, we all succeed together. So I understand the importance of celebrating the contribution that women make to business and I very much look forward to sharing my career path while hearing about the achievements of others.”
Black Country Women in Leadership was established by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce in May 2019 to help raise the profile of, inspire and promote regional women leaders and support the next generation.
The Internation Women’s Day lunch takes place at The Mount Hotel on Mount Road, Tettenhall Wood on Friday, March 6 with arrival and networking from 11.30am. Tickets are £49.50 (£39.50 for Chamber members) and available on the Black Country Chamber of Commerce website.
