Community champion is 'winging it' for charity
For a number of years, High Sheriff Award winner Shaz Saleem has raised awareness and thousands of pounds for various charities including; Mind, Papyrus - a suicide prevention charity for young people, Birmingham children's hospital, Alzheimer's UK, British Liver Trust and so many more.
The community champion has supported these incredible charities by pushing himself to the edge for charity.
He has raised thousands of pounds by taking on some pretty crazy, daredevil challenges — swimming with sharks, fire walking, a 15,000-foot skydive, a 200-foot abseil, a 160-foot bungee jump, climbing Ben Nevis ten times, and even stepping into the ring for a white-collar boxing match.
However, there has always been one stunt that Shaz always wanted to do but due to one reason or another, be couldn't and that was to take part in wing walking.

Wing walking is the act of walking on the wings of an aircraft in motion. This thrilling aerial activity allows individuals to experience the sensation of flight while strapped to the top wing of the aircraft, often at speeds of up to and over 135 mph.
Shaz Saleem said, "One restriction of taking part was my weight, you have to be under 89kg. The biggest motivation for me to lose weight from 117kg to 85kg was to finally take part in this activity.
"2026 is the year I will finally be taking part in wing walking on April 4, from Sleap Airfield, Harmer Hill, Shrewsbury SY4 3HE.
"I have always loved supporting important charities, and by taking part in daredevil stunts I aim to raise as much awareness as possible.
"Recently, I asked you, the community, to choose the charity. Hundreds of you commented with amazing causes, and I’ve chosen two: Midlands Air Ambulance and One Cat at a Time."
