Stourport Masons boost to community transport
Wyre Forest Community Transport is set for windfall donations during 2026, after being chosen as the charity of the year by Stourport’s Masonic Vernon Lodge.
The charity, which provides vital transport services for hundreds of elderly and disabled people, has already received £688 from December fundraising by the lodge.
David Bedford, the lodge’s Worshipful Master, said: “Through our treasurer, Peter Simner, who is a volunteer driver and trustee of Wyre Forest Community Transport, we are well-aware of the crucial role the charity plays in enabling people to connect with their communities, to attend medical appointments and social activities, enjoy trips to shops and visits to friends and relatives.
“They also organise outings for the most vulnerable, freeing them from isolation and loneliness, and provide transport to care homes for their important trips out.

“We are delighted to be able to support this charity and hope our fundraising, raffles and alms collections will raise a substantial amount in total.”
David Muggeridge, chief officer, said: “We are over the moon to have been chosen as the lodge’s charity of the year. Such generosity will go a long way to helping us maintain and develop our lifeline services.
“On behalf of our passengers and volunteers, I thank the Masons most sincerely.”
