Homebuilder donates £3,000 to Stafford cancer support charity
A Staffordshire housebuilder has pledged £3,000 to the Childhood Cancer Parent Alliance (CCPA), which supports families who have children with cancer across the county.
The contribution from Barratt Homes, which is building in the area at its Poppy Fields and Bertelin Fields developments in Uttoxeter and Stafford, is set to help the CCPA as it continues to support 82 families of children and young people with cancer.
Rachael Olley, CEO of the Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance, said: “We support the whole family, including siblings, parents and grandparents, as we know a devastating diagnosis such as childhood cancer affects everyone in the family unit.
“The fabulous donation from Barratt Homes will be used to maintain our very special family room. It will help to pay the rent on the space and also provide activities throughout the year for our families.”
A donation of this amount will make a huge difference for the CCPA, with only four staff members and a small group of volunteers to keep the organisation running throughout the year.
Rachael continued: “When we received the email about the funding, we literally cried because things have been so tough this year. This donation means the absolute world to our team and to the families of children with cancer that we trust.
“Thank you to Barratt Homes for choosing the Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance. The donation makes such a big difference.”

The CCPA provides parties, days out, crafting, well-being activities, seasonal gift parcels and cheer-up hampers.
Rachael added: “We always feed our families, whether it’s at our CCPA headquarters or on day trips, as we know our families are impacted greatly by their child’s diagnosis and the subsequent loss of income due to hospital stays and appointments.
“Through our special fund, ‘The Max and Flo Kindness Fund’, which is in memory of two very special children, we also provide financial assistance, counselling and special treats for families when they need that extra support or when the future is uncertain.”
Barratt Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Redrow Plc. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the areas in which the housebuilder operates.
Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We are incredibly proud to support the Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance and are very happy to hear that our donation was met with so much enthusiasm from the charity.
“We want to encourage anyone who can donate to support this wonderful charity to ensure it can continue to help families get through an incredibly difficult time in their lives.”
