Stourbridge hospice invites community to get involved with new volunteer campaign
The Mary Stevens Hospice is set to launch a new volunteer recruitment campaign in Stourbridge this month after successfully securing funding to support the initiative.
The funding was awarded through the ‘Your Home, Your Forum’ scheme, which provides grants to voluntary and community organisations based in the Dudley Borough or benefiting local residents. With this support, the hospice is introducing its new Many Ways to Give campaign, which will officially launch with a recruitment event on Saturday, January 31, at the hospice.
Maria Goodwin, Volunteer and Community Engagement Lead at The Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “We’re very grateful and excited to have been awarded this funding. There are many ways our local community can volunteer their time to support us, and we hope this campaign will inspire more people to become part of our hospice community and experience the benefits of volunteering.”
The campaign and launch event aim to encourage potential volunteers to explore the wide range of roles available and understand the impact their time and skills can make. Volunteers support the hospice in many ways, including supporting care services, assisting at fundraising events or volunteering in one of the hospice’s charity shops.

Louise May, Volunteer Coordinator at The Mary Stevens Hospice, added: “Our volunteers donated an incredible 11,000 hours last year and we value their time immensely. We couldn’t continue to provide our services without their commitment and generosity.”
As well as recruiting new volunteers, the Many Ways to Give campaign aims to create learning opportunities, build confidence and skills, reduce loneliness and isolation, and highlight the breadth of care and support provided by The Mary Stevens Hospice across the community.
The Many Ways to Give recruitment event will take place on Saturday, January 31, 10am – 1pm, at the Education Centre, The Mary Stevens Hospice, 221 Hagley Road, Oldswinford, DY8 2JR. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to drop in, meet current volunteers, learn more about available roles, and find out how they can get involved.
