Reminiscence Roadshow brings music and connection to care home

Residents of a Solihull-based care home are enjoying the benefits of a weekly Reminiscence Roadshow, a music-led activity that helps bring memories to life and supports meaningful connection with loved ones.

Each session features carefully selected songs from past decades, encouraging residents and their families to engage through familiar music and movement. Whether it’s a well-known classic or a song that once filled the dancefloor, the music often sparks recognition and emotional response, particularly for those living with dementia.

The initiative is designed to support Blythe Rose’s person-centred approach to dementia care. Families are encouraged to join in, creating shared moments that can prompt memories and strengthen relationships.

Bhav Amlani, Director of Macc Care Group which operates 18 homes across the Midlands, said: "Music has the remarkable power to unlock memories and connect us in deeply personal ways - particularly for those living with dementia. At Macc Care, we see time and again how these small, thoughtful experiences, like the Reminiscence Roadshow, make a meaningful difference. It’s not just about entertainment; it's about creating connections and bringing joy to our homes. We’re proud to see Blythe Rose leading with such creativity and compassion in its approach to dementia care.”

More than a social activity, the sessions have become a valued part of the weekly routine, helping residents feel connected, supported and engaged.

By using music as a tool for reminiscence, Blythe Rose continues to focus on the small but significant experiences that contribute to residents’ overall wellbeing.
