The annual Santa visit, founded in 2021 by Cllr Stuart Henley, has grown into a cherished event for families across the ward, bringing festive magic directly to residents’ doorsteps while raising thousands of pounds for charity.

What began as a simple idea to lift community spirits has now become a highlight of the local Christmas calendar. Each year, Santa is joined by a team of dedicated volunteers and a cast of festive characters who help spread cheer throughout the neighbourhood. Their visits have become a source of excitement for children and adults alike, offering moments of joy, connection, and celebration during the winter season.

This year, Halesowen North Santa and Friends are proud to donate £2,000 to their chosen charities. Two of these charities are selected by public vote, ensuring the community plays a central role in shaping the impact of the fundraising. The third beneficiary is traditionally the Dudley Mayor’s charities, continuing a valued partnership that supports vital services across the borough.

For 2024, the chosen charities are:

  • The Alzheimer’s Society

  • Disability in Action Dudley

  • Guide Dogs for the Blind Association

  • Gurkha Welfare Trust

  • The Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund (Georgina Unit, Russells Hall Hospital)

This latest donation brings the total raised by Halesowen North Santa and Friends to over £7,000 since the initiative began—an impressive achievement made possible by the generosity of local residents and the commitment of volunteers who give their time each year.

Cllr Stuart Henley expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, highlighting the project’s continued success as a testament to the strength and kindness of the Halesowen North community. “What started as a small idea has grown into something truly special,” he said. “Our volunteers, supporters, and residents make this possible every year, and together we’re making a real difference to local families and charities.”
