Furniture experts partner with college to boost local skills

Halesowen College is delighted to announce that the Brierley Hill-based furniture repair experts, Emmiera Group has become a platinum partner in the College’s recently launched PowerPartner Programme.

Employers and stakeholders are at the heart of the PowerPartner Programme as Halesowen College strives to equip its students with essential industry knowledge, valuable work experience and meaningful employment opportunities.

The initiative has been developed to strengthen collaboration between education and industry, ensuring that the curriculum remains dynamic, contemporary and closely aligned with the evolving needs of local and regional businesses and organisations. By connecting students with real-world opportunities and insights, the PowerPartner Programme will empower learners to thrive in their chosen careers and contribute meaningfully to society and create a pipeline of talent that will fuel the local economy and beyond.

Businesses and organisations are encouraged to join to make a tangible difference to learners through a dedicated skills pledge. This pledge enables partners to share their expertise, inspire the next generation, and support the development of a skilled and confident workforce.

As part of their partnership, the Emmiera Group will have the opportunity to contribute to the College’s employer boards, allowing them to shape future curriculum priorities and ensure students graduate with the skills businesses and organisations need mostto remain competitive within their market. In return, the company will benefit a range of wide range of benefits, including wider promotional activities and discounts across the college estate.

Kate Cooke, HR Manager for the Emmiera Group, added: "As a company, we have established an excellent working relationship with Halesowen College, having upskilled our internal staff and taken on several apprentices. Joining the PowerPartner Programme was the next logical step for us to work with the College in addressing the skills gaps within our local economy."
