The activity, across the equivalent of 1,716 hours, has supported a range of charities and community initiatives, with a particular focus on young people, education, homelessness, food poverty and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Suzanne Burton, Business Systems Director of adi Group, explained how proud she was of the company, saying: “We’re extremely proud to have exceeded our 2025 volunteering target, delivering 241 days of support and already having additional activity planned for December.

“Colleagues from across the Group have given their time and skills to a wide range of projects, from education and STEM events to homelessness support, food banks and our ongoing work with Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“The breadth of activity shows how seriously our people take their role in the communities we operate in, and the difference that focused, practical volunteering can make. I’d like to thank everyone who has taken part this year and helped turn our commitment into tangible impact on the ground.”

The year began with practical projects in the community, including work by adi Mechanical at Rush2Den in January and April to help create a safer, more accessible space for young people. In the same month, adi FE supported Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice through a Christmas tree collection across Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster, ensuring trees were recycled into wood chippings and biomass fuel.

Throughout the year, teams also provided hands-on support to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, from uploading games onto ward consoles and running Easter craft activities with patients, to constructing and later volunteering at the hospital’s Christmas grotto.

Education and skills formed a significant strand of the volunteering programme. adi colleagues took part in careers days in February and May, speaking to Year 10 and 11 students about routes into engineering and opportunities within the Group.

In June, 27 employees volunteered at the Big Bang Fair at the NEC, supporting STEM education and engaging with young people considering technical careers. July saw volunteers conducting mock interviews at a local school to help prepare students for future employment, reinforcing the company’s commitment to developing the next generation of talent.

The business also contributed to projects focused on homelessness and food poverty. Volunteers supported Let’s Feed Brum in February by setting up, serving hot and cold meals and distributing essential supplies to vulnerable people in the city. In June, adi employees took part in a “Supermarket Sweep” for a Birmingham food bank, collecting essential items to help meet rising demand for support.

Environmental improvements and local community projects were another area of emphasis. Employees used their lunch breaks in July to take part in a Kings Norton community clean-up, carrying out a litter pick around the estate near adi’s head office. In the same month, teams worked on transforming the garden space at Woodlands House, part of Birmingham Children’s Hospital, to improve the environment for patients and families.

Alongside these headline activities, volunteers supported a number of other initiatives, including creating handmade “Cards for Bravery” for seriously ill children in March, providing HR support to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s HR team, assisting MLSS with an electrical survey and Easter holiday activities, and continuing to engage in events such as the hospital’s Sports Day.

Collectively, these contributions enabled adi Group to surpass its volunteering target for 2025 and broaden the impact of its community and charity partnerships across the region.
