School choir brings festive joy and nostalgia to Burntwood care home
Two generations were united in Christmas cheer as singers from a Burntwood school choir performed for local care home residents.
Pupils from Chase Terrace Academy’s KS3 Youth Choir thrilled residents at Hammerwich Hall Care Home on Burntwood Road with a Christmas carol concert.
The feel-good festivities brought back wonderful memories for the residents, some of whom harked back to their own school days.
Resident Katie, age 99, said: “The girls had the most beautiful singing voices and it took me back to my time as a singer. I loved hearing them and joining in for a sing-along.”

With over 25 girls in the choir, the Advinia Healthcare home was full of merriment and laughter as the two generations spent time together.
The children chatted happily to residents and delighted them by sharing a mix of classic carols and popular Christmas songs.
Resident Esther, age 95, said: “It’s such a joy to see the choir perform – it’s something I really look forward to every year.”

Meanwhile, Wellbeing Co-ordinator Paulina Darwin said: “Thank you to the wonderful singers from the KS3 Youth Choir for sprinkling some Christmas magic here at Hammerwich Hall.
“It was fantastic to see the generations united in their love and appreciation for this season and all the happiness it brings.
“Everyone at Hammerwich Hall felt like Christmas had truly arrived thanks to this lovely performance.”
