Pioneering technology automatically enhances golfing experience at Wolverhampton complex
The 3 Hammers Golf Complex in Wolverhampton is building on its reputation for best-in-class customer experience by pioneering new Driving Range technology that promises to deliver more matt time for golfers. The range has become only the second in the UK to feature a new automatic ball-delivery system, removing the need for baskets providing a completely new experience - for golfers of every level.
The introduction of this technology is part of a significant redevelopment which also includes extensive outfield improvements, premium new hitting mats—described by Tour winner, Aaron Rai on his latest visit as ‘the best mats I’ve used in a long time’—new bay dividers for comfort and privacy, and a full rollout of Inrange ball-tracking technology across the site.
“Players simply step into their bay, log in and enjoy an unlimited number of balls during their booked bay time,” comments Sam Hill, Group Operations Manager at Golf & Leisure Group - owners of 3 Hammers. “At our Bristol site, where this combination of technology and operational model is already in place, we have seen strong performance uplift. Our customers are enjoying this new smoother, more flexible way to practice and play. We are also seeing more group bookings of all ages, which demonstrates the appeal of InRange.”
As well as offering a great single player experience, InRange provides multi-player options where people can team up to play against each other with Bay vs Bay features. Guests can also order food and drink directly from their bay, with service delivered straight to them. Altogether, these improvements create a modern experience that caters to both dedicated golfers and the rapidly growing community of entertainment-focused players.

“Our new setup combines major innovations that make the new 3 Hammers experience genuinely unique in the region,” adds Hill. “People can book in advance, there’s no queuing for baskets, no running out of balls, and no guesswork in practice. Everything has been designed to maximise time on the mat and elevate enjoyment. Overall, players can expect better value, more convenience, and an entirely upgraded way to practice or socialise at the range.”
Over the last 39 years, the 3 Hammers has built a reputation as a pioneering venue and industry leader offering an outstanding golf experience. By introducing these new innovations, The Golf & Leisure Group are continuing in the same vein, ensuring that the local golf community has access to some of the best facilities available anywhere in the country.
