Bloxwich opticians spreads festive cheer with donation to local CAMHS unit
A Bloxwich opticians has shared some Christmas cheer with a donation to the Walsall CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) Unit, supporting the vital work carried out just minutes from the store.
After receiving a letter from the unit asking for support, the team at Specsavers, 135 High Street were keen to get involved. Following a discussion with colleagues, staff unanimously agreed to support the appeal, recognising the important role the local CAMHS unit plays in supporting children and young people in the community.
The donation was made possible thanks to the generosity of the entire team, who all donated individually. Store partners then matched the total raised, bringing the overall donation to well over £100. The funds were used to purchase a wide range of items designed to brighten the festive season for young people accessing the service. Donated items included stationery, biscuits, craft supplies, Christmas decorations, raffle prizes, colouring books, pens and other thoughtful essentials.
Jagroop Uppal, store director at Specsavers Bloxwich, says: ‘When we received the letter from the CAMHS unit, the team didn’t hesitate. The unit is just two minutes from our store and does incredible work supporting children and young people when they need it most. Everyone wanted to be involved, and we’re incredibly proud that our staff donated their own money, so we were really keen to match the total. We hope the donation helps bring some extra comfort and joy this Christmas.’
Specsavers Bloxwich regularly supports local causes and community initiatives, with the team committed to giving back to organisations making a real difference close to home.
