Father Christmas and elves lend a hand to Cannock Rotary charity collection

Despite being the busiest time of the year, Father Christmas and his elves couldn’t resist helping Cannock Rotary Club with their annual charity collection at Tesco stores in both Heath Hayes and Hednesford this week.

Leaving Rudolph and all the other reindeer to graze on nearby Cannock Chase, Santa parked his sleigh in each store and greeted local children as they arrived.

The Rotary Club of Cannock was ably assisted by corporate members Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends. Rotary realise how expensive Christmas can be for families and attempt to bring some seasonal cheer to the area.

Father Christmas greeted each child with a ring of his bell and a deep and loud “Ho, ho, ho”!

Santa’s Elves were kept very busy collecting donations from shoppers as they arrived and as they left the stores.

One of the Elves said they were once again delighted with the generosity of the people in both Heath Hayes and Hednesford and wished to thank Tesco for the welcome they received.

Rotary has helped almost twenty different organisations this year with their work benefitting many local people throughout the borough.

Before leaving Santa said: "I’d love to stay longer but I really must go and pick up Rudolph and get ready for December 25”.
