Twenty-five pupils delivered the performance on Thursday, December 11, sharing songs and the story of the nativity, as part of their mission to spread joy throughout their local community this festive season.

The idea for the Travelling Nativity came from the school’s Mini Vinnies, a group of pupils who meet weekly to explore ways of supporting their parish and wider community. Inspired by the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society, the children chose to take their nativity “on the road” to bring Christmas cheer to those around them.

Having rehearsed for two weeks, the performance was one of the school’s main festive events in the run-up to Christmas.

Mike Keane, General Manager at Brookfields House, said: “It was a joy to welcome the children back. Their enthusiasm and kindness created such a special atmosphere for our homeowners. You could see how much the performance meant to everyone in the room.”

Mrs Furnival, Learning Support Assistant at St Mary’s added: “The children really enjoyed performing the Travelling Nativity. They were thrilled by the warm welcome they received.”

Homeowners gathered in the lounge to enjoy the performance. Margaret, who moved into Brookfields House earlier this year, said: “The children were wonderful. Their performance really brightened our day and made the start of the Christmas season feel truly magical.”
