Children's community company cheered by construction contribution
Volunteers and staff from a specialist community interest company (CIC) created to support disabled, disadvantaged and life-limited children have been given a boost by a housebuilder.
More Mascots Please, based in Dudley, organise events, day trips and parties for children across the West Midlands with guest appearances by mascots ranging from Disney favourites to Marvel superheroes.
The company was created by disability rights campaigner Ceri Davies to help bring some relief and joy to the children and families of young people living with a disability or disadvantage, who applied to housing firm Miller Homes for a donation via the developer’s Community Fund.
Worcestershire-based Miller Homes West Midlands committed a £550 payment to More Mascots Please, which will be used to help fund arts and crafts projects for the parties and events set-up by the company.

Ceri Davies, managing director of More Mascots Please, said: “We are truly over the moon that Miller Homes has provided us with a £550 donation to help us provide crafts at our parties and events for children across the West Midlands, which will mean so much to so many families.”
Miller Homes, currently building new homes across Shropshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, run their Community Fund annually with recipients chosen twice a year.
The initiative was created to support groups nearby Miller Homes developments with a particular focus on education, sport, wellbeing and the environment. Each of the developer’s 11 trading regions can provide up to £10,000 per year to benefit local communities.

Carl Cooke, sales director of Miller Homes West Midlands, said: “More Mascots Please is a fantastic community interest company which sings to us as a housebuilder with a strong sense of community spirit. Supporting young people in any capacity is very special so we were only too pleased to commit £550 to their cause.
“Ceri Davies has been campaigning for disability rights for many years and we’re grateful she applied to our Community Fund on behalf of More Mascots Please. We hope our donation will go some way to putting smiles on the faces of those attending the company's upcoming events and parties.”
