West Midlands learners to wow guests alongside award winning singers in Christmas singing concert at the Bullring
Over 200 young learners from five schools from across Birmingham and the West Midlands will perform in a Christmas concert tomorrow at the Bullring in Birmingham.
Learners from three primary and two secondary schools will participate in the Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 17, at St Martins Church in the Bullring. Learners will be joined by professional singers from the Armonico Consort, the critically-acclaimed Baroque specialist choir and orchestra who provide choral tuition to schools across the country.
The Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Derrick Anderson CBE, will be attending, along with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zafar Iqbal MBE. All the schools taking part are members of the Summit Learning Trust. The concert itself is part of a wider offer across five of their academies, working with the Transformation Partnership to help children and young people to experience the Arts.
The Transformation Partnership is a collective of schools, academy trusts and cultural organisations working in collaboration to transform the life chances of children and young people throughout the West Midlands. They have a strategic focus on working with schools in areas of the highest deprivation and socio-economic disadvantage to bring exceptional quality provision and experiences to the communities that are furthest from them.
The concert will be an amazing opportunity to celebrate the festive season with music and heartwarming performances by young learners from Erdington, Yarnfield and Oaklands primary schools, as well as Lyndon and Cockshut Hill secondary schools. Khadeem Duncan-Banerjee FRSA, Founder & CEO of the Transformation Partnership commented: “The Transformation Partnership brings together leading academy trusts and cultural organisations in a shared mission to transform the life chances of children through the proven power of classical arts education, especially in underserved communities.
“This term, our collaboration with Summit Learning Trust has reached new heights. Hundreds of children across the trust have immersed themselves in expert classical singing lessons led by some of the finest Choral Directors in Britain. Next week’s event is the dazzling culmination of their journey.
“Our young singers will stand shoulder to shoulder with professional musicians and vocalists to perform choral music of the highest calibre. This is not only a showcase of their talent and dedication, but a testament to the transformative impact of access to world class arts education.
“Together, we are proving that when children are given the chance to experience excellence, they rise to it — and in doing so, they create something truly extraordinary”.
