LoveBrum’s Bags for Brummies campaign, now in its seventh year, calls on individuals and organisations across Birmingham to donate essential items for the city’s homeless community. With thousands of people sleeping rough or living in temporary accommodation, the charity continues to play a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of society.

The charity initiative saw the group’s homes gather donations of essential winter items including scarves, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, food vouchers and fresh clothing. The filled bags will now be distributed to people experiencing homelessness across Birmingham over the cold winter months.

The campaign was inspired by conversations earlier this year between Macc Care and LoveBrum about how the care group could help make a difference within the local community. What followed was an organisation-wide effort reflecting the spirit of kindness that defines the group’s ethos.

Linda Simpson and Hannah Cowler, who helped coordinate the initiative, also extended their thanks to everyone who contributed: “The kindness and generosity across all our homes has been incredible. We know these Bags for Brummies will make a real difference - bringing warmth and a little comfort to those who need it most this Christmas.”

Adding a touch of friendly competition, Macc Care homes also took part in an internal challenge to see which team could fill the most bags. Sutton Rose, in Sutton Coldfield, proudly claimed the top spot with an impressive 41 bags, closely followed by Abbey Rose, in Erdington, with 35 - both homes praised for their community spirit and enthusiasm.

Bhav Amlani, director of Macc Care, said: “We’ve been blown away by the compassion and commitment shown by everyone involved. From residents and their families to staff across our homes, the response has been overwhelming. Each bag represents care and hope for someone facing a very difficult winter, and we’re so proud to play a small part in supporting LoveBrum’s fantastic work.”
