The King’s performance at Ryland View Care Home on Arnhem Way went down a storm, especially with Elvis fanatics Hazel Robinson, 86, and Gary Father, 60.

Gary, who is a lifelong fan of rock ‘n roll, wanted to get involved and attempted to duet with Memphis Mike, a top local impersonator.

Meanwhile, Hazel was simply delighted to hear her favourite Elvis songs performed live and said the concert was the best start to the festive season she could have imagined.

Hazel said: “What a fantastic afternoon! Is he coming again next Friday?”

Memphis Mike, aka Michael Doherty, sang hits including Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock and Suspicious Minds.

The performance was part of a packed calendar of festive events at the Advinia Healthcare home.

Activities Co-ordinator Sarah Gillies said: “Thank you to The King – we all loved it!

“What better way to spend a cold December afternoon than being warmed by a live Elvis performance?

“The residents had a great time, and it really got us all in the festive spirit because it was such a treat.
