The Way Youth Zone smashes £40,000 Big Give Christmas Challenge target in just one week!

The Way Youth Zone, Wolverhampton’s largest Youth Charity, is delighted to announce that its Together This Christmas campaign has surpassed its £40,000 fundraising target in seven days, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of supporters who took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge from December 2 to 9.

The campaign set out to raise vital funds to deliver a full month of festive activities for young people and families across Wolverhampton. With the target now exceeded at £45,023, The Way Youth Zone will ensure that every young person visiting in December can enjoy free celebrations.

Supporting Families When It Matters Most

For many households in Wolverhampton, Christmas brings added pressure rather than joy. The city faces one of the highest child poverty rates in the country, with 35.7% of children living in poverty, and more than one in five households affected by fuel poverty. These challenges leave many families struggling to afford even the simplest festive experiences.

“Our young people deserve to experience the joy and belonging that Christmas brings,” said Paul Snape, CEO for The Way Youth Zone. “Thanks to our supporters, we can remove those barriers and make sure no child misses out this December.”

Donations Doubled Through Big Give

This year’s success was made possible through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s largest match-funding campaign. The Way Youth Zone secured a £20,000 matching pot, donated by one of its Founder Patrons and The Scouloudi Foundation (Big Give Champion). Every online donation made during the campaign week was matched pound for pound, doubling the impact for young people and families.

A Community Effort

The Way Youth Zone extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign—from individual donors to local businesses and community partners.

“The support we’ve received demonstrates the power of our community when we come together,” Lisa Carson, Director of Fundraising and Communications at The Way added. “Because of you, hundreds of young people will experience a Christmas filled with warmth, celebration and hope.”
