Walsall opticians swaps Secret Santa for Salvation Army Christmas appeal
An opticians in Walsall is putting others first this festive season by forgoing its usual team Secret Santa and supporting the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal instead.
The store, which is locally owned and run, is collecting donations from customers and the community until 7 December, with gifts being delivered to the Salvation Army on 8 December. The appeal will help provide presents for children and families in the community who might otherwise go without this Christmas. As part of the initiative, the team will also be donating the money they would have spent on Secret Santa gifts for one another, to the appeal - helping to make an even bigger impact.
‘We’re so proud of our team for choosing to support such an important cause,’ says Specsavers Walsall store director, Justine Page. ‘Christmas is a time for giving, and this is a wonderful way to make a real difference.’
Fellow Walsall store director, Jagroop Uppal, adds: ‘We’re incredibly grateful for any generosity from the local community. ‘Christmas is a time for giving, and this is a wonderful way to make a real difference, not only are we collecting gifts, but we’re also putting our own Secret Santa budget towards donation.’
The Salvation Army is a Christian church and charity dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in society. Through its annual Christmas Present Appeal, the organisation collects new, unwrapped toys and gifts to ensure children from families facing financial hardship can experience joy on Christmas morning. Donations are distributed through local schools, social services and community groups, helping bring hope and happiness during the festive season.
