Bri-Stor Systems wins Green Innovation Award at 2026 WhatVan Awards
Bri-Stor Systems, part of The HEX Group, has won Green Innovation award at the 2026 WhatVan Awards. The ceremony, held this week at the Hilton London Bankside, welcomed van operators and industry leaders from across the UK to celebrate the sector’s achievements.
The judges recognised Bri-Stor Systems for its Sustainable Mobile Tyre Van, a breakthrough solution that powers all on-board tyre service equipment without the need for engine idling. Developed with Portable Power Technology, the van uses the Power360 lithium system to recharge on the move, delivering a quieter, cleaner service while significantly reducing emissions, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
Andrew Goodwin, Sales and Marketing Director of Bri-Stor Systems, said: “It’s fantastic to see the hard work and science that went into the Sustainable Mobile Tyre Van recognised by the judging panel. Our goal has always been to help fleets cut emissions and costs while improving efficiency, and working with our partners and customers has been key to making this a reality.”
The Sustainable Mobile Tyre Vans cut fuel use and CO₂/NOx emissions by 30%, saving around 1,200 tonnes of CO₂ a year. With 20 already in service across Halfords, a further 60 are set to be deployed in January.

“These results have been made possible through key partners such as Portable Power Technology and REMA – a long-standing collaborator with Halfords – whose industry expertise and supply of tyre machines and balancers help ensure the vans operate at maximum efficiency,” added Andrew.
Every element of Bri-Stor Systems’ Sustainable Mobile Tyre Van has been designed with green innovation in mind, from its recycled flooring and carbon-neutral livery to its oil-free compressors.
Karl Baker, Director of Operations at Halfords Mobile Expert, said: “Our investment in these vehicles is based on hard evidence. Two-year trials proved that the lithium-powered systems deliver real savings on fuel, emissions, and maintenance – all while improving the Halfords customer experience. This technology is helping us build a fleet that’s leaner, greener, and fit for the future.”
Alongside winning Green Innovation of the Year, Bri-Stor Systems was highly commended in the Converter of the Year category, reinforcing its commitment to fleet innovation, customer service, sustainability, and workforce development.
