Walsall Black Sisters Collective to host International Volunteer Day event
Walsall Black Sisters Collective (WBSC) is set to host a community-wide International Volunteer Day event this Friday (December 5), taking place from 10am to 4pm at Bethel Lighthouse in Walsall.
The event will bring together a range of Walsall-based organisations to showcase their work and highlight the volunteering opportunities available across the borough.
Attendees will be able to meet local groups, explore roles that match their interests and skills, and learn how volunteering can support key community initiatives.
As part of the day, WBSC will also be promoting its ongoing Walsall Windrush Sisters heritage project, which is currently recruiting volunteers for oral history interviewing, transcription, photography, digital scanning, events support, and advocacy. Training is provided, and roles are open to volunteers of all experience levels.

The event will feature cultural clothing, prizes for best dressed, and an international food tasting table to celebrate the diverse communities that contribute to Walsall’s history and identity.
WBSC aims to make the event a welcoming space for anyone looking to get involved in community work, whether they are new to volunteering or looking to expand their experience.
The event is free to attend, open to all, and designed to strengthen collaboration between local organisations and communities.
