Midlands author releases gritty crime thriller exploring the silent battles men face
A Birmingham father, Street food caterer, security supervisor, and now published author has launched a new British crime thriller titled Man-March: No Safe Haven, a fictional story inspired by the unspoken pressures, expectations, and battles many men carry in silence.
Man-March: No Safe Haven marks the debut of Birmingham writer AJR Brooks, introducing a fresh and authentic voice to the British crime-thriller scene. Although the story is fictional, it reflects the realities many men quietly carry, identity, loyalty, conflict, responsibility, and the consequences of the choices we make.
The novel follows a close-knit group of men navigating danger, fractured trust, and the cost of survival, painted against a backdrop of friendship, brotherhood, and the darker corners of city life. Readers have described it as raw, cinematic, and emotionally grounded, offering something rarely found in UK-based crime fiction.

Brooks celebrated the book’s official launch with a live reading at the International Men’s Day Closing Party, where attendees praised the honesty and depth behind the themes explored. The event also marked the beginning of a growing readership and the early anticipation for Book Two, currently in development.

Published under the author’s own imprint, Ashlight Press, the novel is now available in Hardcover, paperback and Kindle via Amazon. Brooks hopes the story resonates with readers who appreciate real characters, tough choices, and an honest look at modern manhood through fiction.
Man-March: No Safe Haven is available on Amazon.
