Learners from the school, which is part of the Summit Learning Trust, also led a bake sale, which raised over £100, meaning over £650 was raised for charity in total.

The funds will go to Kids’ Village, The UK’s first respite holiday village just for children with critical illness. They’re making a special space in nature for rest, to have fun and to be looked after.

This means that, when Kids’ Village is complete, they'll be able to offer free breaks to families who’ve navigated difficult and exhausting days in hospital, to experience some magic away from the world.

The Kids Village site itself is just north of Birmingham, near Lichfield.

The Cockshut learners also met by chance the Lord Mayor of Birmingham whilst bag packing, Cllr Councillor Zafar Iqbal MBE.

Jody Clarke, Principal of Cockshut Hill School, commented: “Fundraising and charity work is a vital part of what we do at Cockshut Hill, and we couldn’t be prouder to support an amazing initiative like Kids’ Village.

“As ever, we’re proud of our learners, who conducted themselves with maturity and enthusiasm as excellent ambassadors for the school.”
