Local Joule’s Brewery enamel signs set to go under the hammer in Penkridge

Seven metal signs – all produced by renowned Birmingham makers Stainton & Hulme Ltd – and emblazoned with Staffordshire brewery Joule’s branding - have been consigned by a local collector from Stone, just a few miles from Cuttlestones’ Penkridge saleroom.

With original Joule’s memorabilia increasingly sought after, each sign is expected to achieve in excess of £100 when they appear in the Winter Antiques Auction on Thursday 4th December.

Auctioneer Dave Eglington expects strong interest: “Advertising memorabilia always attracts a good number of bidders, but the local interest angle here is likely to make them all the more popular.”

Founded in Stone, Joule’s Brewery became a much-loved local institution, and original enamel signage from the brand rarely comes to market in such tidy, authentic condition. Their strong visual appeal and regional relevance mean thecollection is likely to appeal to both local buyers and wider advertising-collectable enthusiasts.

The fully illustrated online catalogue will be available from Friday 28th November. Viewing is welcomed in the saleroom the day prior to the auction and on the morning of the sale, with bidding available in the room, live online, via telephone or by commission.
