Bra banks have been installed in each of the three libraries and, for every tonne collected, £700 will be donated to breast cancer research.

The bras are recycled through the campaign’s textile recovery project – providing income and employment for people in the UK. Any bras that can’t be recycled are dismantled and disposed of properly.

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Dudley Libraries on behalf of the council.

“Our libraries serve as community hubs and, as such, it makes sense for us to participate in this excellent bra bank scheme,” said GLL Partnership Manager Stephanie Rhoden.

“We need to fill at least four bank liners for each regular collection, and each liner holds around 100 old and unloved bras. By donating yours, you’ll be helping make a difference too.”

Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread.
