whg maintains Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation accreditation
Leading Midlands’ landlord whg has maintained its status as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO), recognising it’s continued commitment to tackling climate change.
Since launching its bespoke Carbon Literacy training programme in 2022, whg has now certified over 15% of colleagues – from Board members to frontline teams – helping embed sustainability into day-to-day decisions across the organisation.
Feedback from colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive, with 94% saying they would recommend the training and confidence to take climate action rising from 29% to 92%. Already, 60–80% of pledges made during the training are being delivered, from reducing waste to embedding sustainability into new home design.
These actions align with whg’s wider sustainability progress over the last year, including cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 6%, reducing office waste by 7%, and achieving EPC B or above in 85% of the 467 new homes completed.

Rob Gilham, Corporate Director of Strategy, Assets and Transformation, said: “I’m really proud of our colleagues who’ve embraced Carbon Literacy and are already putting their learning into action. Their enthusiasm is driving real change across whg and helping us build greener, more resilient communities.”
whg now aims to achieve Silver accreditation by 2027, with a goal of having at least 30% of colleagues certified and sustainability embedded into every aspect of its work.
Dave Coleman, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carbon Literacy Project, said: “By becoming a Bronze accredited Carbon Literate Organisation, whg has demonstrated its commitment to genuine low carbon action, environmental and economic impact, and the building of a low carbon future for us all.”
