A brand-new digital front door opens for Walsall – and it’s already turning heads

A Walsall writer and long-time town-centre wanderer quietly pressed “publish” this morning on a home-grown project that’s been 18 months in the making. The result – LoveWalsall.com – is not another council noticeboard or a repurposed Facebook page; it is a slick, mobile-first discovery engine built for one purpose only: to make locals (and the rest of the world) fall back in love with WS1, WS2 and beyond.

What started as a simple idea on one of my regular walks through Walsall town centre has grown into the biggest creative project I’ve ever taken on. This morning—after 18 months of scribbled notes, late-night edits and countless redesigns—I finally pressed “publish” on something I’m incredibly proud of: LoveWalsall.com.

This isn’t a council site. It’s not a recycled Facebook page. It’s a brand-new, mobile-first digital front door designed to help people rediscover Walsall—its food, its events, its people, its hidden corners and its everyday charm.

I built LoveWalsall.com because I genuinely love this town. I grew up wandering its streets, eating in its family-run restaurants, and discovering small businesses that never seem to get the spotlight they deserve. Too often, the only stories that break through are the negative ones. I wanted to change that narrative—not with PR gloss, but with honest storytelling, local photography, and a platform that actually works.

Everything on the site has been handcrafted:

  • Restaurant recommendations based on real experiences

  • Up-to-date event listings you can actually rely on

  • Neighbourhood guides

  • Profiles of the people who give Walsall its heart

No clutter. No endless ads. No broken pages. Just a clean, fast, modern site built for people scrolling on the go.

Since quietly launching, I’ve already had local cafés, restaurants and creators reaching out wanting to be featured. That alone tells me there’s a real appetite for something positive and community-driven. And this is only the beginning. I’m planning deeper neighbourhood spotlights, “hidden gem” articles, community submissions and maybe even a podcast if things keep growing.

Today marks the start of something new—not just for me, but hopefully for Walsall too. A place to remind ourselves, and show everyone else, that this town is full of life, flavour, talent and stories worth telling.

LoveWalsall.com may have launched quietly, but with the support of the community, I don’t think it will stay quiet for long.
