Tinga Umera wins the Excellence in Care Award: Registered Manager
One of the dedicated team members from Nexus Care Services a family-run, private home care provider based in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Tamworth has been recognised at the Care Home Awards 2025.

This award celebrates his outstanding commitment to residents, compassion, and contribution to the care sector.
As a carer’s son, Tinga understood the care industry early on in his career and under his leadership, Nexus received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) across all five sections, significantly improving the previously challenged “Requires improvement” standard prior to his tenure. Tinga’s proven leadership skills in care provision have resulted in the company achieving 10/10 scores in an independent homecare.uk review, as well as achieving recognition as one of the leading Top 20 Home Care Providers in the West Midlands in 2024 and 2025.

Proudly paying their carers above the national average and offering other excellent benefits, including paid travel time, counselling, and a breakfast club for the children of staff working early shifts has shown Tinga’s commitment.
To further strengthen the culture of support, Tinga created a new role this year: Client Relationship and Employee Welfare Manager, which is a full-time role focused on supporting both clients and carers, something Nexus believe is still rare in the independent home care sector.
The West Midlands Care Association are incredibly proud of Tinga and the positive impact he makes in the community.

The Excellence in Care Awards ceremony is organised every year by WMCA who offer the crucial support Care providers require to deliver sustainable excellence within community, nursing, special needs and residential home settings.
