With consumers increasingly looking for greater speed, efficiency and choice when ordering their food, McDonald’s ambitious ‘Convenience of the Future’ restaurant revamp programme will combine a new restaurant layout with the latest technology to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.

Improvements have been made for the Upper Gornal restaurant crew with a redesign of the crew room which will create a more relaxing and comfortable space for them to take a well-deserved break.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Peter Lee, and Labour Councillors Carol Littler, Adam Ashton and Mushtaq Hussain joined Anne-Marie and her team to reopen the Upper Gornal restaurant.

The restaurant also brought the community together before the opening by hosting a night dedicated to the friends and family of Anne-Marie and the team, including local partners St. John Badgers U10’s and Gornal Athletics U13 FC getting a first look at the refurbished restaurant. Also, on opening day, the restaurant invited families in the local community to join them for an arts and craft day to celebrate the new look of the restaurant.

Local McDonald’s Franchisee, Anne-Marie Clarke, who owns and operates the Upper Gornal restaurant, said:“I’m proud to reinvest in our Upper Gornal restaurant and for our customers to see the new look and feel of our restaurant! The dining area is more contemporary, and we now have separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers leading to a better experience for everyone. It’s exciting to see the new changes and I’m delighted it’s created new employment opportunities for the local community. I’m excited to welcome the new members of our team and our customers back to the restaurant.”

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Pete Lee, said: “It’s fantastic to see this newly refurbished McDonald’s reopening its doors and creating many new jobs for local people. I’d like to congratulate Anne-Marie Clarke and her team on this £1m investment in Gornal. Investments like this not only enhance our high streets but also strengthen our communities by offering valuable employment opportunities. I wish the team every success as they welcome customers back.”

Another improvement to the restaurant includes a new dedicated courier waiting area, reducing congestion in the dining area and accommodating drivers’ needs. To celebrate this new area, Anne-Marie and her team joined the delivery drivers and handed out new delivery bags and coats to couriers which were supplied by McDonald’s delivery partners.

While the traditional walk-in and Drive Thru remain core to how customers order, the redesign of McDonald’s kitchen and dining areas as part of Convenience of the Future will better integrate digital sales channels, the McDonald’s App and make smarter use of internal space to enhance the dine in experience.

With dedicated areas for the different ways to order, along with the removal of the front counter, the revamp will offer a more efficient way to order and will leave customers with more space to enjoy their meal.
