Steps of love: Kate raises £830 for Codsall Food Bank in dad’s honour
Codsall resident Katie White has completed an inspiring 70-mile walking challenge in just 30 days, raising £830 for the Codsall & Bilbrook Community Food Bank.

Katie began her challenge on October 6 and finished on November 5 – exactly one year after losing her dad, following a short illness. The walk was deeply personal, with one mile completed for every year of her dad’s life.
The funds raised will go directly to the Codsall & Bilbrook Community Food Bank, based at St Nicholas First School in Codsall, which supports families across the local area. Katie’s donation will help provide essential supplies over Christmas and into the New Year.
Katie said the challenge was a fitting tribute to her father, who always preferred giving to others rather than receiving gifts.
“Dad never wanted presents – he would always give the money to charity, often to a food bank,” said Katie. “It felt right to honour him by doing something that helps others in our community.”
Katie also expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her throughout the month-long challenge.
“I want to thank everyone who sponsored me – it means so much to have friends, family, and work colleagues behind me through their donations. And a huge thank you to everyone who joined me on my walks to help me get the steps in. Your support, company, and encouragement kept me going every mile.”

The Codsall & Bilbrook Community Food Bank continues to rely on local generosity to support families in need. Local businesses, groups, and residents who wish to help through donations, collections, or fundraising can get in touch with St Nicholas First School for more information.
Katie added: “The support from family, friends, and the community has meant so much. Knowing that the money will help local families in his name makes every step worthwhile.”
